October 10, 2009 -- The CatRock Leadership Academy is a select group of 10 students who demonstrate a passion and commitment to the outdoors and technology, and have a desire to learn more. The CatRock students attend monthly outdoor expeditions and leadership trainings, become certified in first aid and CPR, and will go on to assist on outdoor trips and technology classes. Most importantly, alumni serve as role models and mentors to younger students.
On Oct 10, last year's CatRockers (now alumni) took their last overnight trip to Mike Harris' cabin in Pawling, NY. Next month a new batch of students will head out for the very first time. After two months without each other, the CatRock alumni were more than excited to be back together! They filled the 2-day stretch with lots of joking, laughing, teasing, dancing, eating, hiking, yoga, storytelling, learning, sharing, planning and service work.
NYC ICO Certified Leaders Lisa Coffey, Kristine Patnugot and Angela Bole supervised the trip and structured lots of opportunities for the kids to explore their goals for the coming year. They're all eager for volunteer opportunities! Other ICO Certified Leaders should contact Lisa, Kristine or Angela if they'd like to host a couple CatRock alumni as Youth Leaders during one or more of their upcoming NYC ICO trips.
More pictures from this trip can be seen on Kristine's Facebook.
